About the event
Having a mismatch in sexual desire is common, and it's not always an issue. But sometimes couples get caught in a negative cycle. In the cycle, one partner takes on the role of the "pursuer" and the other takes on the role of the "distancer." It can feel lonely and isolating for each partner, and it's a difficult pattern to change.
Hannah Strom is an LCSW that specializes in sex and relationship therapy. In this presentation, she will outline how couples get caught in a pursuer distancer dynamic and how therapists can help. The talk is an hour and a half so I (Hannah) don't want to overpromise and underdeliver what we can get to--but I will try to touch on how biopsychosocial factors such as sexual trauma, chronic pain, stages of life, attachment patterns, cultural upbringing, gender identity, and sexual orientation can impact the cycle.
