About the event
Trauma profoundly impacts the mind and body, influencing how we relate to food and our overall nutritional
habits. Trauma has the potential to effect our daily lives in ways ranging from diagnosed eating disorders, to an
overreliance on specific foods, to difficulty procuring, budgeting or planning for foods. In addition, the gut/brain axis is central to discussions about trauma and nutrition. Hormones communicate through the vagus nerve influencing our feelings and mood, and affecting hunger, digestion rates and our microbiome.
Understanding the complex relationship between past experiences and eating behaviors fosters a holistic healing process.
