About the event

Often referred to as “hidden disability”, living with a chronic illness creates unique and painful challenges for our clients that often go unacknowledged– by their friends, employers, doctors, and sometimes even within themselves. As therapists, we have an opportunity to shine light on these unseen parts of our clients’ experience– but only if we know where to look. Join Erin for a discussion of common mental and emotional needs of clients living with chronic illness, and explore targeted approaches to empower and support our chronically ill and disabled clients across a variety of therapeutic modalities.

Erin is an LCSWA practicing in Durham, NC. Erin’s work is guided by the principles of disability justice and liberation psychology. She invites clients to understand their emotional challenges not as personal shortcomings, but as adaptive and meaningful responses to a world that doesn’t always offer safety or support. Her goal is to help you…
